The Dutch Extended Level Syllabus is designed for learners who have previously studied Dutch for about three to four years (approximately 300 to 400 hours) at post-primary school level
However, learners with experience that differs from the above may also elect to study Dutch at this level. A significant number of learners study Dutch to communicate with the language community in Australia. For most learners Dutch is a second language. It is hoped that more learners whose family background is not Dutch will study the language in future.
